Kleiman Evangelista Eye Center | 3025 Matlock Road | Arlington, TX 76015 | 1 (800) 214-2020 The Visian ICL ProcedureIf Dr. Kleiman or Dr. Evangelista finds that you are a good candidate for the Visian ICL, then they will do everything possible to make the procedure as comfortable and stress-free as possible. The first step will be to create one or two small openings around the edge of the iris that will allow fluid to circulate around the lens. This step is done one to two weeks prior to the actual insertion of the Visian ICL. Dr. Kleiman or Dr. Evangelista will use numbing drops for your comfort and will prescribe eye drops to use until the day of your surgery. Prior to surgery, Dr. Kleiman or Dr. Evangelista will administer topical anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Once you are comfortable, the surgeon will create two small openings that will be used to position the lens. Following the placement of a gel used to protect your eye during the procedure, the lens will be inserted. The lens is folded into a small cartridge that fits through the incision and gently unfolds in your eye. Marks on the lens ensure proper positioning. Once the lens is in position, the four corners of the lens are placed behind your iris, making the lens invisible to both you and others. The gel used to protect your eye is then removed. Dr. Kleiman or Dr. Evangelista will then add eye drops that help prevent infection and inflammation. You will continue to use these drops for several days after your procedure. While there is typically no need for sutures following the Visian ICL eye surgery, the doctor may cover the eye with a patch or shield and prescribe drops or medication. Please be aware that you will be unable to drive after the Visian ICL eye surgery, so arrangements for transportation must be made in advance. Benefits of Visian ICL
