Kleiman Evangelista Eye Center | 3025 Matlock Road | Arlington, TX 76015 | 1 (800) 214-2020 How The Visian ICL WorksThe Visian ICL is a Phakic intraocular lenses (IOL) that is inserted into the eye and made to work with the exisisting natural lens. While this is meant to be a permanent solution, the Visian ICL can be removed should the need arise. Unlike a corneal refractive procedure (such as LASIK surgery), the Visian ICL procedure does not alter the structure of the eye. The lens essentially works as a contact lens that has been implanted rather just than being worn. Since this Collamer lens is placed underneath the cornea, the Visian ICL is protected from the elements and can provide a lifetime of clear vision. Collamer is a flexible, biocompatible material that contains collagen, a natural component in human tissue. |
